1100 Architect is the New York and Frankfurt based architectural firm of David Piscuskas, FAIA, LEED AP and Juergen Riehm, FAIA, BDA. Since 1983, 1100's mission has been to create functional architecture of lasting beauty that communicates meaning while cultivating relationships. We believe that design can motivate and inspire users, and make an affirmative, lasting impact on individuals and communities alike. The studio avoids dogmatic strictures, instead favoring a careful consideration of light, material, and detail that is specific to the nature of each project. The end products are functional, beautiful, innovative, and sustainable spaces that elegantly integrate with their surroundings.

1100 is recognized for creating dynamic, well-built facilities for cultural, educational, and public institutions. We have extensive experience creating compelling architecture for a diverse range of typologies, clients, and contexts.

Our library projects include the recently completed Children's Library Discovery Center at the Queens Central Library (LEED Silver certification pending) and the New York Public Library Battery Park City Branch (LEED Gold certified). Our renovation of the New York Public Library Francis Martin Branch has received numerous awards including the American Institute of Architects / American Library Association Library Building Award. In addition, we designed six New York City public school libraries as part of the Robin Hood Foundation's Library Initiative.
