Communication Services has committed itself to the success of public and private institutions for more than 20 years. As an extension of our highly successful integrated marketing services, we are proud to offer a diverse range of services specifically designed to help libraries communicate their messages effectively and ensure long-term success.
Strategic Communications and Campaigns Communication Services provides the following services to our library clients:
* Strategic planning focused on marketing and branding
* Branding and marketing campaign development and implementation
* Creative campaign planning and implementation for building referendums,
budget votes and charter change efforts
Since 2005, Communication Services has worked with dozens of libraries to effectively position themselves in their communities for successful votes and enhanced community support. The formula we've found that works the best is raising the library's identity in the community by positioning the library as an essential service through marketing campaigns and then segueing those campaigns into well managed vote campaigns. Basically, you can't ask people for money without giving them a reason why.
A Formula That Works
This formula has been particularly successful. We used it with the Saugerties Public Library where we branded and marketed before successfully asking the community to support a $6.9 million building referendum. We were also successful with The Grinnell Library in Wappingers where we used the same strategy and successfully doubled the library's budget in a November 4th, 2008 vote garnering 55%.
Training for Libraries
In addition to our branding, marketing and campaign services, Communication Services also provides training for library staff and boards and library systems. These workshops are developed and conducted by Libby Post, Communication Services' CEO. Communication Services trainings include:
* Our innovative Library Campaign Institute is a four-part training program
that gives libraries the skills they need to successfully communicate their
issues to voters, in order to win critical public referendums
* Speaking with One Voice: Branding, Marketing, Public Relations and
Development for Libraries
* Customer Service Training
Communication Services has also been hired by the Division of Library Development out of the New York State Department of Education to provide "District and Funding Options" workshops and consults to libraries across the state.
