The School of Information Studies at Syracuse University offers a globally recognized ALA-accredited M.S. in Library and Information Science (MSLIS). Students emerge from the program with a solid foundation in librarianship and the innovative vision needed to excel as leaders in the information profession of their choice. School of Information Studies faculty members are nationally known for expertise in subject areas including digital literacy, school library media, eScience, social media and gaming, classification, cultural heritage preservation, reference services, and many more, enabling them to mentor students interested in a wide variety of specializations within the field. The program is ranked #3 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.
The MSLIS program is available in on-campus and online formats, and can be completed on full-time or part-time basis. The School of Information Studies is a recognized leader in online LIS education, and is a founding member of the Web-based Information Science Education (WISE) Consortium. It offers a flexible, asynchronous program with limited residency requirements. Online students can learn virtually anytime, anywhere, earning a Syracuse University degree with flexible study schedules and no need to relocate. Curriculum, faculty, and learning outcomes are the same for online and on-campus students, and every effort is made to ensure that the academic experience is of excellent quality for all students regardless of program format.
